When I think of Chamomile Roman, I think relaxation. The light, slightly floral scent is perfect when I want to chill out. This is one versatile oil!
To make the most out of your Roman Chamomile, check out these few ideas below:
- If your child has a hard time calming down near bedtime, try a quick massage with 1 ounce of almond oil and 2-3 drops Chamomile Roman.
- For a relaxing room spray, combine 2 ounces of witch hazel or vodka with 15 drops Chamomile Roman and 10 drops Lavender. Allow to sit for 1-2 hours, then add 2 ounces water. Shake well before each use.
- Sprain your ankle? (or any other sprain?) Combine 5-6 drops Chamomile Roman with 1/4 c Epsom salt in cool water. Once dissolved, soak a washcloth then wring out. Apply the compress to the affected area, repeating as needed.

I was wondering if you might be safe to use Roman Chamomile in lip balms and if so, what dilution? There are recipes on PT which suggest 18 drops EO across 8tsp butters/oils while other recipes are more dilute at 3 drops EO in 3 tsp butter/oils – how do you know what dilution to add for different oils? Is it personal preference? Safety concerns? Kidsafe?
The ankle sprain recipe will also need a carrier oil, right? Which carrier would you recommend?
Lynn, all carrier oils have wonderful skin nourishing properties, making them all great to use. Here’s a handy chart to refer to; hopefully it can help you make your decision 🙂 https://www.planttherapy.com/pdfs/carrier_oil_chart.pdf
Thanks for the bed time trick.
You are very welcome, Deborah! We hope it helps out your bedtime routine!
