Easy Cotton Diffuser Pads

Plant Therapy DIY Christmas Project Easy Cotton Diffuser Pads

To continue in the spirit of easy DIY projects, I thought I would share a project that I do in my own home anytime of year, but it is especially useful during the holiday time. I use cotton facial pads in pillow cases, tucked in with bathroom towels, in drawers, in stinky shoes, or any other place you can think of to passively diffuse the scent of my favorite essential oils.

This is a quick and easy way to impress your guests with fresh smelling bed linens, or provide sweet smelling towels to dry off after a shower.

The ways you can use them are endless & I’d love to hear what you come up with too!

Plant Therapy DIY Christmas Project Easy Cotton Diffuser Pads with Holiday Synergies

What you’ll need:
  • Cotton beauty pads (round or square)
  • Essential oils of your choice (our Holiday Synergies make a nice choice this time of year)
What you’ll do:
  1. Place a few drops of your chosen synergy onto the bottom pad and place wherever you want the smell of the holidays to linger!

*My favorite choice to diffuse is Nighty Night on a cotton pad, then slipped into the pillow cases on my guest bed!

  • I wonder if I placed one on my bedside table if it would help me sleep at night. Most nights I wake up 1-4 times. I am trying this tonight.

    1. So I have been using frankincense serata 4-6 drops every other night about 45 mins to an hour before bed. It is not over powering this way. I wake up either none or just once and my dreams are calmer. I have very active and busy dreams. The dreams are still busy but calmer in sense. I find it has helped and will continue this practice. I have not tried other oils yet.

  • I have placed a few pads in a shallow dish in my guest bathroom and added about 8 drops of oil. How often do I add more drops after the first time? Or do I need new pads every time?

    1. Thanks for checking Marilou! It really depends on the essential oils you are using. Oils like lemon, lime, and orange will dissipate more quickly while other oils like vetiver and patchouli tend to linger. This is all dependent on the chemical makeup of the oil. Since this method of diffusion is passive you can refresh the pads you are using as needed.

      1. I read that oil diffuser pads can be placed in emptied wax melter pods and placed in the warmer Is that a use that is safe?
