Slimming Formulas

As you all know I was recently on vacation, I ate more fast food in June then I think I have in the entire last year.  I felt bloated and blah when I got home.  First things first, I whipped up an inhaler with 15 drops of Munchy Stop and have been sniffing it whenever I begin craving junk, especially if I know my body isn’t hungry.  Evenings are the hardest so I make sure my inhaler is close by.  During the summer my workout consists of swimming, skateboarding, and hula hooping, so any extra help I can get to keep from having to hit the gym hard is a welcome tool.

The second thing I made was a slimming gel.  Most of us have heard about slimming wraps, many of us have even tried them, however with a price tag of $99 for 4 applications not many of us can justify that as a regular expense.  You can make this gel for less than $15 and it gives about 8 applications, a mere fraction of the cost of those popular wraps.  This slimming gel has ingredients to help increase circulation, diminish the appearance of cellulite, and firm and tighten your skin.

Lastly, I like to get out of the shower and massage this serum onto my abdomen, buttocks, and thighs to really give my skin that extra boost.  The ingredients may help reduce the appearance of stretch marks as well as aid in firming and smoothing your skin.

DIY Slimming Gel

What you’ll need:
What you’ll do:
  1. Measure all  ingredients.
  2. In a bowl mix together well.
  3. Transfer to bottle. (I like to use a pastry bag for this)

Bonus; Avery 22804 Slim Gel Label

To use:

Apply to areas of concern 1 time a day for up to 4 days.  To help maximize results you can wear a wrap for up to 45 minutes a day.  Be sure to rinse well after use.  Drink plenty of water!

DIYFirming Serum

Firming Serum

What you’ll need:
What you’ll do:
  1. Measure all  ingredients.
  2. Mix well.
  3. Transfer to bottle.

Bonus; Avery 22804 Firming Serum Labels

To use:

I like to use a dry brush, shower, then massage this serum into the areas of concern.  Taking the time to both dry brush and massage stimulates the skin and will help further the tightening and smoothing effects of this serum.  I do this approximately 3 times a week, if you want to use it more often I would recommend using a 1% dilution to avoid issues related to sensitization.

How and why do I dry brush?  I start at my feet and brush towards my chest, brushing everywhere I can reach, at least twice. It takes about 5 minutes but it helps to unclog pores, stimulate circulation, and thus eliminate toxin build up (including cellulite). With your pores unclogged it also allows better absorption of the good stuff (like essential oils). It really is one of the best-kept secrets! I recommend getting a natural bristle brush, the first few times it’s a tad uncomfortable since your skin isn’t used to that kind of stimulation, however it doesn’t take long to adjust to the new sensation. A couple of weeks and you’ll start seeing and feeling your skin improve!

UPDATE:  I did one week of using the slimming formula in February 2017 and lost 2 inches from my hips and waist!

  1. I remember seeing this post 2 years ago and then tried to find it again and could never get the key words right. Glad I found it now i need to get these into my cart to try it!!

  2. After searching the blog posts, I just found this and I am so excited to make it because I have all the ingredients needed. This is definitely a needed formula after the holidays! Thank you!

    1. Krista, Grapeseed Carrier Oil would be an excellent substitution for this recipe 🙂 Great question and thank you so much for your service!

  3. I finally caved, bought myself a dry brush and tried this out. A little background, I have recently had two babies (two under two), both were big babies and I had a lot of extra fluid so long story short, I get HUGE when I am pregnant. After having two C-sections, my body has been left wrinkled, scarred, and saggy (ew, gross right?) I tried this out to see if it would help tighten me back up. My results: Out of the two (and I did/am using both) the Slim Gel seems to give the most results. The wrinkles in my stomach tightened up (you can still see them if I sit or bend over but upright, they are gone) and there does seem to be a little less sag. I lost 3 pounds in 4 days. I have given the Slim Gel a break, as directed and have continued using the Firming Serum (3X a week) and Dry Brush (before every shower). I love how the dry brush feels against my skin (you get all tingly) and you feel quite exfoliated. I haven’t seen a lot of results from the Firming Serum yet but maybe I need to give it more time (I started the first of August and it is now the 22nd). I am anxious to try my next round of Slim Gel to see what further results it will give me. My stretch marks have appeared to lighten in color as well so we shall see. I hope this is helpful for anyone else out there looking to give this a try!

  4. Hi! I know this is an older article (found it on Pinterest!) so I was wondering if either of these recipes are similar to Ripple Reducer. Thanks!

  5. I am confused a bit on using them. Do you use the slimming gel before you shower and then the firming serum after you shower and leave this one on?

Also it says you can use up to 4 days, so say you use it 4 days in a row, how long would you have to wait before doing another 4 days of using it again?

Also I read in previous questions, if you don’t have basil you can just leave it out. In this case, should you add more drops of one of the other oils in the recipe to replace the missing drops of basil?

    Thanks

    1. I apologize for the confusion Sandra! Hopefully I can offer some clarification. You can apply the Slimming Gel whenever you want (although, due to the energizing oils in the recipe, I would not do so before bedtime). Aloe Vera Jelly absorbs nicely so there should be no need to shower after but you can wipe yourself down with a damp cloth as an extra precaution. The Firming Serum should be used after dry brushing and showering. Dry brushing helps to stimulate the skin and the heat from the shower allows pores to open.

I would wait 3 weeks after using the wrap for 4 consecutive days before applying again.

As for Basil, you can simply omit it or add in a few more drops of Juniper Berry and Rosemary.

      I hope this helps!

  6. Is there any substitute for Helichrysum Italicum? I can’t afford that one right now. I’m hoping it will work without or with a substitute.

      1. Oh fantastic! It’s in my wishlist but until I can get it I can use both of those which I already have. Thanks

  7. Did you use these at the same time or did you alternate, say one week with the slim gel and the next with the firming serum? Could I put them in a roller ball bottle?

    1. I’m not sure how well the gel would come out of a roll on bottle but I think the firming serum would be great in a roll on! I use them simultaneously.

    1. The concerns associated with medications and grapefruit are not an issue when it comes to using the essential oil. So you can safely use Grapefruit.

  8. For the firming serum I don’t have Neroli but I have the Anti-Scar/Stretch synergy. Can I use that and if so how would I adapt the recipe?

    1. I would simply use it in place of the Lavender and Neroli, so 27 drops of the Anti Scar/Stretch synergy would work great!

    1. You can absolutely use regular lavender, I prefer the scent of the fine but the properties are very similar!

  9. It says to rinse well after use …. does this mean to apply it, leave it on for 45 minutes and then shower it off? You mention using it after you get out of the shower …. does that mean that you take another shower 45 minutes later? or just wipe off with a damp cloth? And will this still have some effect without using the wrap? thanks so much !!

    1. Just wipe off with a damp cloth. It will stay be effective without the wrap, the wrap just helps to accelerate the effects.

      1. Is there a reason to wipe the gell off? I haven’t made it to use yet. When I read the instructions, I assumed the “rinse well” directive was for the wrap!

        1. With your skin being hot it is sometime a bit more sensitive, wiping off after you remove the wrap is simply an extra precaution. I would certainly rinse the wrap since I don’t know how the essential oils with effect the materials of the wrap.

          1. Would you recommend applying this gell at other times of the day, not just after a shower? And if so, could it be left on?

          2. Yes you can apply it anytime that is convenient for you, and if you aren’t using the wrap (which increases the heat) then you should be fine to apply and leave it on.

  10. I see you recommend applying 1 time per day up to 4 days in a row, I assume. Can this Slimming Jell be used weekly?

    1. The firming serum is however I wouldn’t recommend using the slimming gel until after you have finished breastfeeding.
