DIY Essential Oil Toilet Bomb for The Sporty Dad

Do you know a dad who is passionate about his active lifestyle? This Father’s Day, for all those runners, gym enthusiasts, climbers, and team players, we have a manly DIY that’s practical, a little humorous, and perfect pre or post-workout!

DIY Manly Toilet Bombs

What you’ll need:
  • 1 1/2 cup Baking Soda
  • 2/3 cup Citric Acid
  • 2 tbsp Alcohol
  • 30 drops Balsam Fir
  • 30 drops Tea Tree
  • Molds
What you’ll do:

Mix baking soda and citric acid. Fill a spray bottle with alcohol. Spritz the baking soda/citric acid mix until the mixture holds together, but NOT wet (if they get too wet, they’ll rise and become ineffective). Slowly mix in essential oils. Using gloves, fill molds with mixture and allow at least 4 hours to harden.

To use:

Just drop into your bowl use a scrub brush and flush!

  • Oh, my goodness! When I had read the title I got super excited and hoped it was something that they could put in the toilet before they went #2! Haha! None of my brother in laws or nephews will help clean so I know this won’t work… but I might make this for my own fun!

  • Looking forward to trying this! When I mentioned to my 13 year old son that these fizz when placed in the toilet, he excitedly said he was looking forward to this diy!! Maybe this will get my 13 year old to help clean the toilets!! Lol!!

  • I love these Toilet Bombs! Unfortunately it doesn’t make my husband want to clean the toilets, but I don’t mind. There is something rewarding about that fizz

  • I’m a little confused about the recipe. Is alcohol referring to rubbing alcohol or drinking alcohol?

  • I know toilet bombs are a goofy thing to get excited about but I made these (different oils) but with this recipe and had to try one right away. It’s insanely satisfying to drop one in the toilet and watch it fizz.. I would do this again in a heartbeat.

    1. Thank you for sharing, Jessica! It’s hard to resist how fun fizzy ‘bomb’ products can be — especially when they freshen everything up! We’re glad you enjoyed it!

  • These look so fun! I’ll have to hide them or I suspect my 10 year old will CLEAN the toilet very well lol!

    1. Christina, these are so fun! Definitely a good idea to keep them where little hands can’t reach them, though. Sometimes these ‘bomb’ products can be a little too tempting! Thank you for sharing!

  • Another great gift idea for my dad! He can’t difuse or use sprays because he has cats, but a toilet bomb would be great, and make cleaning fun! Hmmm…. Not a bad idea for my boys too!
