  1. I have been curious about DIY body wash and if Castile soap would be too drying. I may just have to try this DIY and add some Hemp Seed carrier oil to my cart. 🙂

  2. Is it possible to get the ml instead of the number of drops? I bought some droppers with marks on them on amazon because sometimes patience isn’t my strongest trait. Lol.

  3. Hello – I need some help with dilution for this recipe please. I have mixed everything except the EO’s. I wish to fill 2.6 oz (or 5.2 TBS/15.6 tsp) bottles with this soap mixture. If I’m wanting a 2% dilution does that mean I would add 21 drops of eo to each 2.6 oz bottle?

    2% = 6 dr per 2 tsp

    container = 2.6 oz or 15.6 tsp

    How many total eo drops for a 2%? I get 2/14 (I rounded down) = 7 tsp * 3 dr = 21. Is this correct?

    1. I find that the glycerin and carrier oil are necessary for my skin type. These two ingredients help to moisturize and soften the skin. Without them the castile soap can be a bit too tonifying.

  4. Mandarin is one of my favorite citrus oils. I made the body wash and it smells so good, I used some of it in a foaming hand soap bottle so we could use it as hand soap too. Love the kidsafe oils for hand washing.

    1. Great suggestion Sheri! This recipe would make a great hand wash. I love how it leaves my skin feeling super soft and squeaky clean.

    1. I use Organic Sunflower Oil instead of Hemp Seed Oil. I just recently made this body wash with orange sweet and geranium Egyptian. It is lovely!

  5. Mandarin – oh what can I say, it is one of my favs-it truly helps me to relax. I love to diffuse with Lavender while I preparing for bed. This is a oil worth having in your possession

  6. The body wash recipe looks amazing! I have everything but the oil. Is there another oil I could sub??

    1. By oil, do you mean carrier oil? You could sub it out for whichever you happen to have on hand that you prefer. 🙂

  7. Would anyone be able to recommend a good vegetable glycerin? I’ve never worked with that before. What does it do/benefits? Also, one of my favorite ways to diffuse mandarin is with lemon and lime!

    1. Thanks for asking Kristin! Vegetable Glycerin is a humectant that brings moisture to the skin. I love to use it in my DIY body washes and often find it available for purchase on Amazon.

Thanks for sharing the diffuser suggestion. It sounds lovely!

  8. My PT Mandarin oil arrived yesterday! Super fast shipping. 🙂 I already have Tangerine and didn’t think I needed Mandarin but since it was the Spotlight Oil of The Week, and my Tangerine oil is getting low, I figured I’d give it a try. Besides, I’m willing to try anything that may help me get to sleep at night. Wow, how can two such similar fruits have such entirely distinct , unique scents? Both refreshing, but definitely different. I diffused it last night with Cedarwood and Lavender and I seemed to sleep well, we shall see how it goes. Also am trying some new perfume blends.

    1. I love the idea of diffusing this oil with Cedarwood and Lavender and hope you enjoy using it in a perfume as well!

  9. I made this and loved it! I just ran out and am back to order more hemp seed oil so I can make more 🙂

  10. Would using this body wash before going out in the sun be an issue? Citrus oils tend to be photosensitive right? Still a newbie, hope that isn’t a silly question!

  11. I appreciate again that PT offers several citrus oils that do not pose phototoxic risks (like the mandarin)! Makes it so much easier to enjoy these lovely oils!

  12. I love mandarin! Thanks for offering such a wonderful oil. I like to put a drop of it on my pillow right before bed!

  13. Would love to try the Mandarin Body Wash but I do not have hemp seed oil. What other carrier oil would you suggest to replace it with? I have dry skin. Thans.

    1. Sunflower Oil is one of my favorites. You could easily swap it out for any of your favorites, though.

  14. Thank you for this blog, I learned that some citrus oils are also good for bedtime. can’t wait to try diffusing it with peppermint & lavender at night.

  15. I love Mandarin eo! I’ve been using plant therapy for over a year now and I haven’t found an oil yet I don’t love!

  16. I already have jojoba oil, fractionated coconut oil & avocado oil. Would I be able to substitute one of those for the hemp see oil in the body wash?

  17. I LOVE mandarin! It is my favorite citrus oil, it blends really nice with other oils. I like it with bergamot and lavender. I can’t wait to try making my own body wash with it!

    1. We hope you love it, Nicole! And Mandarin, Bergamot, and Lavender sounds like a wonderful blend! Thank you for sharing 🙂

  18. I diffuse Mandarin daily with lavender and sweet marjoram for a peaceful slumber. My favorite of the orange scents.

  19. I love citrus oils, but I’m always afraid to diffuse them at night, because I usually associate them with increased energy. I’m so glad Mandarin was the spotlight oil this week, so I could learn that it’s actually a great bedtime oil to diffuse! I can’t wait to try diffusing it with Basil!
