Chakra 1: Grounded Foundation for the Root Chakra

If you’re looking to bring more intentional, self-balancing practices to your self-care routine, stop right here!

Aromatherapy provides powerful support for your spirit, helping you achieve a greater sense of  balance from the inside out. Our Chakra Blends are crafted specifically to help balance all seven chakras, or energy centers, within your body [1,2].

Today’s focus is our Grounded Foundation blend. Designed to support your 1st chakra (root), Grounded Foundation has a rich, earthy blend with a hint of sweet spice. It’s created using sacred, treasured oils, including Spikenard, Frankincense Carteri CO2, Palo Santo, and Vetiver.

In case you need any more reason to try out the set, check out our post on all the things you can do with Jojoba oil, and why you need it!

Your Root Chakra

The root chakra, located at the base of the spine, represents your foundation and feeling of being grounded.

When all is well with your root chakra, you’ll feel a sense of safety, security, and calmness. You’ll be bold and confident enough to tackle new challenges. This makes a properly aligned root chakra vital whenever you’re trying something new or pursuing a major life goal [3, 4].

What happens when your root chakra is out of balance?

Feeling threatened, panicked, or anxious? This could mean your root chakra is blocked! These unpleasant feelings can take over your thoughts and make you feel uncertain, and question yourself. [3, 5]. Physically, a blocked root chakra could cause a sore lower back, low energy levels, and cold extremities [6, 7].

Balancing your root chakra:

Grounded Foundations supports your root chakra by soothing, calming, and relaxing you when you’re feeling disconnected and upset. To use this blend, you can add to a personal inhaler or diffuser. Putting a drop or two on a tissue and wafting it away from your nose is another fantastic way to enjoy the benefits of this blend.

If you decide to use it topically, dilute Grounded Foundation to 1% in your favorite carrier oil. Anoint the backs of your knees or the bottoms of your feet by massaging this intentionally in a clockwise direction.

Having a healthy root chakra helps to create a sense of security, protection, and hope and supports feelings of trust and belonging [8]. Grounded Foundation will help you open up this energetic area of your body.

Try this DIY Foot Cream using Grounded Foundation to feel firmly grounded and centered, while allowing a sense of expansiveness and higher connection. Using a foot cream helps to pull energy back down in the subtle body toward the ground to feel more grounded.

  • This oil is amazing. I wasn’t a huge fan at first. I tend to like more floral and citrus oils and don’t always love earthy oils. But this does smell clean and pleasant. It is great for sleep and has helped me fall and stay asleep better than any other oil that I have tried. I can’t wait to try this foot cream!

    1. Thank you for sharing how it’s worked for you. The earthier blends can be hard to get into, but the benefits from more earthy oils really do have amazing properties for the body and mind.

  • I bought the Chakra set a while back, I love the scents of the oils but hadn’t really figured out the best way to use them. I have been reading all about Chakras, and this blog especially helps me find a starting place. Thanks again PT, Love that you educate us on how to use your amazing oils!

    1. You’re welcome Jenni! These oils really are so great for just about anyone! We are happy that these posts have helped you better understand how to use them

  • I really love this blog, I love yoga and anything that deals with your inner self. This is a great way to learn about the Chakra oils… Thank you Plant Therapy for such a wealth of information. I plan on reading all the Chakra blogs today, take notes on what I need for the various recipes and when I get extra money try and get those items. I would love to try to for cream but all I have is lavender cream not evening primrose. A lady is sending me samples of the Chakra oils because I just can’t afford them right now even though I want to full set so badly.

  • I have the Grounded Foundation roll-on and it’s one of my favorite synergies! I haven’t tried it on the base of my spine yet, but that’s a great idea!

  • I really wanted to love this oil. I bought it to help with sleep like it helped others, but the smell is nauseating to me. I now realize that oils definitely work differently for folks. I am glad it works well for others. I plan on gifting it to someone else who will enjoy it.

    1. Sorry to hear that this blend just didn’t work for you. If you’d like to reach out to our Customer Service team, we’d be happy to assist you with a return if you still have that 🙂

  • I cannot wait to try this on my feet and during my yoga practice! I placed my order for the full set this morning–keep the posts coming for the others 🙂

  • I am going to love this week’s daily blog…I am saving up for the Chakra set and am already super excited to get started. Will I be able to hold off until the Christmas sale??? I don’t think so!!! I might be buying a few of these earlier than expected!

  • I have the 10 ml roller set. Are these something we would need to use daily? Do we use them in order starting with #1 and all on the same day? I want to use mine but I’m really not sure how to start.

    1. Great questions DeeAnn! The order which they are used is up to you! Some people feel that only certain chakras need to be targeted. If you feel they all do, you can try them in the order you feel fits best. I might recommend using one each day, that way you aren’t overloading yourself with so many oils and you can determine if that blend helped out the particular chakra you were targeting for that day. Just like with all oils, only use as needed 🙂

  • I saved up and was able to purchase the Chakra set during CAM. I have to admit however, that once I got it, I was intimidated and have yet to use it. Thank you for this. I’m excited and I think this is what will push me to finally make full use of them.

  • Oh this foot cream is an excellent idea! A great way to relax and remind ourselves that our feet directly connect us to our beautiful earth every day with every step we take. Off to mix some of this right now!

  • Love the foot cream idea. Have been wanting new ideas for this blend and can definitely see using this! Thanks as always!

  • I have not tried the chakras yet, but I’m excited after reading the benefits. I would love to have a good foot cream also.

  • Love this blog. I have the chakra set but have not gotten really into them yet. Hoping this information will help with my understanding. Thank You!
