What you’ll need:
- Wooden blocks (we used 4 – 4”x4”x1” blocks)
- Stencils for lettering
- Sponge brush
- Craft paint
- Artificial or natural decorative accents (we used artificial leaves, berries, and ribbon)
- Glue gun and glue sticks
- You favorite Plant Therapy Fall Blend
What you’ll do:
- Sand wooden blocks if needed.
- Use the stencils to letter each block. (we chose the word “FALL”)
- Glue decorative accents to the wooden blocks as desired.
- Place a few drops of your favorite Fall Blend on the back of the blocks.
Aha! A great use for the scraps from the woodshop!
Would different types of wood do better? I know I wouldn’t want anything pressure treated but oak vs pine vs cedar – what do you think?
As long as the wood is untreated, it’s really up to you! You can choose something based on aesthetics or its natural aroma (Cedar, for instance).
So into wood signs lately….never thought to add Eos to them! Will so do that now.
What a great idea!! Can’t wait to try this.
how fun to make for any occasion using different letters!!!
going to create something for every holiday! thanks for the idea
These are adorable! Such a fun and creative way to decorate for the holidays while spreading lovely, and beneficial, scents!
Great idea.
Great decorations for the workplace. Easily made into any holiday theme too.
Handprints of the grandkids on one king piece of wood made perfect for a welcoming sign at grandma’s entry way! She loved them and the smell of Harvest Moon!
Aw, that sounds precious! And i’m sure the kiddos had a good time creating it 🙂
This is such a cool idea!!
This is an AMAZING idea! My son will love having these blocks for a gift! Thank you for posting!
Very cute idea! Going to try this in my office.
Decorate and diffuse!!! I need to try this one!
Perfect holiday (or any day) craft idea! I’m always looking for things to do with my nieces and nephews, or if I’m alone and bored lol
I Still have a gingerbread blend from last year and think this will be perfect for the upcoming fall season.
Maybe some lavender for bathroom blocks as a natural deodorizer, lemon/basil or pink grapefruit in the kitchen… Oh gosh I want to put them all over the house!
Thanks for the idea 🙂
What a great idea!
These diy’s are my favorite posts from you guys! Keep them coming!
I love this. I’m doing something similar with lava rocks.
What a fun DIY craft to do for fall!
Any idea on how long the sent will last…thinking of using a clothes pin with oil and putting in my car in the cubby area below my radio…
That sounds like a great idea Barb! That will vary on the oils used and type of wood. I have added a few drops of oil to a to a wooden box in my room and it lasted for a few days. You can just add more drops as needed 🙂
Never would have thought of this. What a fun way to add fall decor and fall fragrance!
Ooo this is a brilliant idea! I can do this with my kiddos on their untreated wooden blocks! And this gives me an idea to use it on the inside of my untreated wooden cabinets to make get rid of musty smell!
Yes! It’s an excellent project for the entire family to enjoy 🙂
I’m so going to make these with my son for a school activity (Homeschooled)
Hope you guys have fun with it!
This looks like a great way to diffuse in my dresser drawers and closets!
How cute!! Love this idea!
Fantastic craft idea!! I’m going to try this out for one of our upcoming mom’s night out events.
Great idea! Going to try this next weekend with the grandkids.
Love this!
What a fun and simple idea! Thanks!
Such a wonderful idea! Will the woos hold the scent for awhile or do you need to reapply daily?
Sally, every oil evaporates differently and this could also vary depending on the type of wood used. I would recommend re-applying the oils as needed.
Such a cool idea! I might have to do this sometime
Such a simple and fun family activity! Love being able to use oils in so many ways to benefit the family.
Great idea. I think I’ll paint mine all over except for the back. I doubt the EO would penetrate painted wood.
I’m already thinking ahead for some ideas/shapes for the Christmas holiday…wooden trees, stars, snowflakes, etc.
This is an awesome idea for a little desk decoration! Keep those creative juices flowing!
Such a cute idea!
These are so cute! And you could easily make them for any holiday/season!
I was thinking the same thing! These would be great for work as well. I can’t diffuse at my desk, but I could absolutely put a couple drops on one of these and have it with me all day.
This will be a fun project for me and the imps to create 🙂 Does it matter what type of wood is used, or, is one wood better for EOs than others…? Thanks for this fun autumnal project!
Yes, a fun weekend project for the whole family 🙂 I’m sure different types of wood may absorb quicker than others. Might be something fun to experiment with. They should all absorb after a few minutes though, to lock in the scent
Great little fall decor! I’m going to have to do this with my kiddos.
What a cute idea! I never thought of the idea of using wooden blocks and I’m sure my kids would love to paint some too. Hopefully I can do a few of these this weekend!
