  2. As a woman who is entering this chapter of my life, I am so thankful for this article. The night sweats and hot flashes are both irritating and tiring. I currently diffuse lavender and peppermint at night and still have hot flashes. I will be ordering Clary Sage soon and look forward to some amazing results.

  3. Peppermint oil helps me ward off hot flashes a lot of times if I rub it on the back of my neck when I first feel one coming on. I make a 10ml roller bottle using fractionated coconut as a carrier oil. I also add lavender oil to it for the smell plus it helps with headaches when I roller it over my forehead and temples.

    1. Begin with a 2% dilution, which would equal 6 total drops of essential oil to your 10 mL roller bottle. You can use any of the oils listed or try a blend of several! If you find that the 2% dilution is not strong enough, increase the dilution to 3% (9 drops in 10 mL). My personal recommendation would be to start with Clary Sage, which many women have found success with 🙂

  6. I’ve been putting a drop or two of clary sage on a kleenex inside my pillow case and it seems to be helping me sleep better. I’ve been having sleep issues for years due to pre-menopause and post-menopause and so far this seems to be helping.

    1. Debbie, to use Rose EO you can diffuse it if you have an aromatherapy diffuser. It would also be great to add to a personal inhaler because then you could carry it around with you and use it whenever you need to. Also, you can dilute it in a carrier oil and rub onto your skin. For instance, you can add a couple of drops of Rose EO to a teaspoon of carrier oil, which would make an appropriate 2% dilution. As for feeling hot and flush, Peppermint would be a great choice 🙂

  8. Really going to make a roller blend of Clary Sage with carrier oil to take to work and roll on top of my feet and back of my neck. A number of times a day i get a hot flush and bursts of sweat beads on my forehead 🙁

  14. I find that spraying with Peppermint hydrosol kept in the fridge helps the most so far with hot flashes. But I am still working on finding the magic solution to eliminate or reduce the frequency of the hot flashes to begin with.

  15. I definitely learned a few new things today. I use Balance regularly to help with symptoms. I have all of the individual oils noted in the blog, except Rose. It’s definitely on my “wish” list. In the meanwhile, I love a quick spritz from my rose and peppermint hydrosols. Now, I’ll work on incorporating the listed oils individually along with occasional use of the Balance blend to aid in my journey through this phase of life.

  16. Clary Sage truly works wonders. Blend it with Bergamot or Lavender for some added scent cos CS is just earthy and herbally if you don’t care for that. At night I slept so well without the dreaded hot flashes. No incidence of kicking or pulling up the blanket.

  19. Clary sage is amazing. I’m not a huge fan of the smell, but the benefits far outweigh it. Peppermint is also wonderful. I add a few drops of peppermint with a few drops of sweet orange to my bubble bath soap.
