New Year, new resolutions… new you! If you’re like so many of us, you’ve resolved to get healthy in 2019. While you’re planning healthy lunches and looking for a workout plan, whip up this DIY Juniper Berry Slimming Gel to help firm and tighten the skin in your problem areas.
Juniper Berry Slimming Gel DIY
What you’ll need:
- 32 drops Grapefruit Pink
- 16 drops Basil Linalool
- 16 drops Juniper Berry
- 8 drops Rosemary 1,8-Cineole
- 4 ounces Aloe Vera Jelly
- 4-ounce bottle
Add all these products to your cart
What you’ll do:
- Measure all ingredients.
- In a bowl, mix together well.
- Transfer to bottle.
To use:
Apply to areas of concern once a day for up to 4 days. To help maximize results you can wear a wrap for up to 45 minutes a day. Be sure to rinse well after use. The essential oils used in this all-natural gel are known to increase circulation, diminish the appearance of unwanted skin ripples, and firm and tighten your skin.
The directions say to use it once a day for 4 days. Can you do this every week or do you have to wait, if so how long do you wait? One of the posts said to wait 3 weeks between each 4 day use, is this correct? If so, why do you have to wait 3 weeks before you can use it again?
Store in glass container or plastic?
You can use either as long as it’s PET plastic.
How many days can we keep it?
If stored in the fridge, 1-2 weeks.
Thanks for the helpful recipe
It should be stored in the refrigerator or in a dry and dark place?
Both are great options to maximize the shelf life of your DIY.
I’m on day 2 of this blend. I haven’t noticed any difference yet. Wondering if a wrap would help it along? Also, the oils seem to settle a bit (using an opaque bottle) so I would suggest giving it a good shake before applying
Hi Donna! I would suggest giving the bottle a quick shake before use, and a wrap can’t hurt! I say give it a try, and keep with it for a few days.
I am excited to try this, but I would like to use oils I already have, if it is possible. Is there an oil that I could substitute for the rosemary?
How long do you leave it on before washing off?
Hi Sue! 5-10 minutes should be enough time!
Am I supposed to rub it in and leave it, or always rinse it?
You’ll always want to rinse this off well after each use.
Definitely trying this one!
We’re about to begin our summer healthy changes and I can’t wait to give this recipe a try. Thank you for sharing!
Interesting! Will have to try this recipe soon. Grapefruit works wonders on my hunger pangs, I did not know Juniper berry may also help a person slim down, thank you!
Have to admit that I’m a skeptical about this actually firming up anything. But, I have most of the oils and just might give it a try! If I do, I’ll update everyone on the results.
Did it work?
What is it in the basil and rosemary that help you in this blend?
Shannon, Basil and Rosemary are both fantastic at helping to increase blood circulation where they are applied, which helps stimulate the muscles of that area 🙂
“wrap”, you mean plastic wrap? food wrap will do?
Yep, plastic wrap or food wrap will do!
i just made it and applied to my tummy but just wondering how much i need to apply each time because my aloe jelly is low on stock.. so i divide the recipe by 8 and did a 15ml portion instead.. hahaa… just afraid im using too lil to see any effect..
same wondering how much to put
I have all these oils and will have to try this. Sounds great.
I just ordered the rest of the ingredients for this! Can’t wait to try it.
I’ve read through the comments and didnt see an answer to how long we should wait before doing another 4 days once you finish the first regimen. Please respond.
I found this mentioned in an older post for the same slimming gel. Hope this helps you.
“I would wait 3 weeks after using the wrap for 4 consecutive days before applying again.
As for Basil, you can simply omit it or add in a few more drops of Juniper Berry and Rosemary.”

Love this DIY and I already have everything. Wondering how long you have to wait after the 4 days though. I hope that gets answered soon.
This is perfect for getting a jumpstart in the new year and glad I have all the oils. Can’t wait to try it!
Could I just fill the bathtub with this and dunk my whole body in it? LOL
This is what I was saying to myself in my bed bahahaha!!
Will any carrier work? My super reactive skin dies not like aloe vera.
Oh totally! Definitely use a carrier your skin loves if Aloe Vera is not a good choice for you!
Have all the ingredients for this AND an empty 4oz bottle! would like clarification on how long to wait after the first four days of use, though. Is it on four days, off four days? Thank you for putting these awesome recipes out for us!!
Wondering if I can wrap my face???
I’d love to hear how this has worked for other! Definitely excited to try this. Extra baby bump skin needs to tighten up.
Very excited to try this!! Is the basil lanilool key? I have the other oils , just missing that one.
Just had a baby 6 weeks ago. I was looking for something to help tone my belly. I now have all the ingredients to try this out!!
Perfect timing for me! Gotta work on those thighs! I can not wait to try this!
Glad someone else is using juniper for the same reasons I am 😀 I made a spicy mix with some turmeric and jojoba base… Will be checking back on these comments for potential adjustments.
Will try this, would love to see more comments of people who have tried it and the results.
Hoping to try this diy. Have most of the oils cant wait. Thank you.
I’m going to need a lot of this! Happily I have all the oils and some aloe jelly. I’m going to give it a try.
I have most of these! I’ll have to try it! Thank you!
Can’t wait to try this!
How long will it stay fresh if I use raw aloe vera?
This is a great blog! Glad that my wife has all of these oils to make an inhaler and roller. While she is slim enough, I am looking forward to loosing a few!
Me too
It says use daily, up to four days. So then how long should you wait before doing another 4 days? Or, could you tell us how to adjust for regular daily use? Thanks PT!
I was wondering the same thing
Does it need to be wiped off after 45 minutes? I’d want to rub it on then leave it.
How long do we have to wait after using for 4 days before we can do another 4 days please?
I’ll definitely be making this as I actually have all of these oils! Thanks for sharing the recipe.
I’m thinking of ordering the juniper. If I do I’ll have to give this a try. Do you rinse it off afterwards because it has aloe or because of the oils?
It’s funny. This exactly what I needed at this moment. Turning 40 in 9 weeks and feeling very overwhelmed by loose skin under arms and on tummy. Thank you.
Got them… Would love a little more explanation on the suggestion of a “wrap”.
Exited to try this.
I would also like to know this!
A wrap is taking an organic material like cotton or flannel that has not been bleached & soaking your mixture in it, then wrapping it around the area you want it to work on. Generally the wrap should be 2 to 3 pieces of your material. Example, if you have an area that is 10” by 10”, you would cut 2 to 3 pieces of your fabric 10” by 10”. Also boil your fabric before you use it.
This recipe looks awesome! I am going to try this soon and see how it works!
Wow this looks awesome and so timely for after the Christmas binge! I’m definitely going to try this, although I hate using throwaway plastic so will think what else might work!!
Nikki try a pregnancy belly band or compression belt. Just to hold in body heat I think!
Will this work on old 65+ year old., just wondering. Sometimes it is hard to overcome mother nature handy dandy work, LOL. Also does it need a preservative if one decides to make a larger quantity?
looking forward to trying this to firm up as i lose weight
Absolutely making this recipe to add to my workouts! My juniper berry is on its way!
This sounds wonderful. Going to order what I don’t have to give it a shot!
Interesting! I will have to collect the rest of the ingredients and give this a shot.
Definitely going to give this a try! Thank You Plant Therapy!

Are there any substitutes for the basil? I don’t have that one.
NICE! I will be giving this a try, just ordered Juniper berry, I will add the other oils I don’t have to my wish list to give it a shot later on. Thanks PT for the awesome-sauce! 🙂
