Kidsafe?
No! Ylang Ylang Complete is NOT KidSafe.
Dilution instructions:
Add 1 drop Ylang Ylang, 2 drops Sandalwood, and 2 drops Bergamot in two teaspoons (10 mL) carrier oil for a romantic, sensual massage blend. Because of possible skin sensitization, we recommend a maximum dilution of 0.8% for topical applications.
Diffusion instructions:
Add a drop or two to your diffuser to help calm a frazzled mind. Because the aroma is powerful and heady, only a small amount is needed.
Oils to blend with:
Bergamot, Black Pepper, Cedarwood Virginian, Geranium Egyptian, Grapefruit Pink, Jasmine Absolute, Mandarin, Neroli, Peppermint Western US, Petitgrain, Sandalwood Australian, and Vetiver.

On the oil page it mentions that Ylang Ylang complete is kidsafe. In this blog is states the opposite. Can you clarify?
Hello John,
It used to be classified as not Kidsafe which is when this blog was written. With our new batches of Ylang Ylang it is Kidsafe and is okay to use around kids. We hope this helps!
I blend ylang ylang with clary sage in an almond carrier oil for after bath relaxation, it’s truly marvelous.
Adding a couple drops of ylang ylang and rosemary to my leave in conditioner makes my curls unbelievably soft.
Im still on the fence with Ylang Ylang. Some days I find it pleasant, but Im not always crazy about it. ♀️
I am not a huge fan of ylang ylang on its own, but I love the floral sweetness when added as a drop to my typically more woody blends!
I thought I hated ylang ylang turned out its rose I hate lol I bought ylang ylang for my son because he loves Let it Go. I thought I hated the ylang ylang but it’s actually fine on its own, I’m gonna add it to Skin Restore (lavender and neroli) for an anxiety blend! Neroli and lavender don’t quite do it on their own but I can see the potential and now that I know ylang ylang isn’t so bad, I can really reap the benefits of it! I already know it helps my headaches with blue tansy
Read that ylang ylang good for high blood pressure. I diffuse it for my dad as he wants to avoid taking statin medication.
Tried Ylang Ylang for the first time in diffuser….I LOVE it! The smell is wonderful, makes me smile! So glad I bought it!
This is one of my favorite “floral scent” oils. I am always diffusing with different oils and always achieve good results. I’m not crazy about some of the heavier floral scents but ylang ylang does the trick for me.
I really appreciate that you note whether or not the oil is ok for kids to use. This is a wonderful quality that you have – warning others in smart oil usage. Thank you!
I do not love Ylang ylang by itself, but I love it in the synergy blends.
This is one of my must have oils! The exotic scent just makes me feel good however I use it. It’s like pampering for the soul ♡
Just tried the combination of ylang ylang complete with sweet orange in a bath. Lovely!!
I ordered one. I haven’t used Ylang Ylang before. Excited to try it.
this is one of my must have e.o. Its great for around my kids….. just remember, it bother skin of little ones. but, awesome in the diffuser!
After reading the bow, how useful is Ylang Ylang, I could not resist. Just ordered one. Excited to have one.
I just ordered this one! Now I’m even more excited for it to come in after reading this post!!
I can’t wait to try this calming blend. I’ve been using ylang ylang complete for a few years now, but now I know even more ways to use it. Thanks Plant Therapy.
I love Ylang Ylang, I use it in an inhaler to help me relax, I love the smell of it!
how is this one pronounced?
I’d like to know that, too. Is it pronounced yang yang or lang lang or what?
eeelang-eeelang
I need to try this one.
When I first got Ylang Ylang Complete and diffused it by itself I did not care for it, and haven’t used it since. This post inspires me to try it with something like Cedarwood. I can imagine that taking off some of scent that felt to strong to me. Trying that tonight!
I have had this oil for a while. It has been one of my favorites since before I knew what essential oils were. Thanks for the new information. I will have to branch out on my uses.
What is the difference between the extra and the complete?
This is my question as well! There is also a Ylang Ylang 3, which is the one I have (not from Plant Therapy).
Ylang Ylang can undergo five grades of distillation; extra, I, II, III, and Complete (PT only sells Extra and Complete). It is literally distilled into “fractions” depending on how long it spends in the distillation process. No matter what type you have, it does not alter the quality of the oil, instead, it changes the aroma and constituents (but not tremendously). You can compare their GC-MS reports to find constituent differences or reach out to our team of aromatherapists at [email protected] for more information 🙂 I hope this helps!
One of my favorite oils for a relaxing diffuser blend!
I have used extra but not complete. Wondering if it smells much different. I love ylang ylang!
It seems Ylang Ylang is a love it or hate it scent. I really love it, and find it very calming. But a little does go a long way with this one!
Love love love this oil!! Very excited to see that it’s a spotlight oil of the week. My favorite blend with Ylang Ylang is from Tyler of PT/SEOR – Tropical Sunset – 5d Orange Essence, 3d Vanilla Oleoresin, 1d Cedarwood Atlas & 1d Ylang Ylang. HEAVENLY!! Another favorite of mine is one I created for sleep – 5d Grapefruit Pink, 4d Lavender & 1d Ylang Ylang. Soooo relaxing!!
This blend does sound heavenly, Stefanie. I’m going to try this one!
The recipe for relaxing sounds good! I was just thinking of wanting a new relaxing combo.
YlangYlang is one of my favorite essential oils. I have been using it in an anti-aging serum along with other essential oils known to be healing to the skin. I also love the massage blend mentioned in the blog. Bergamot and sandalwood with it are lovely to diffuse, very calming and uplifting for me.
I have Ylang Ylang extra, do I need complete?
Julie, Ylang Ylang Extra will work just fine 🙂
Love Ylang Ylang! I’m going to try with grapefruit fruit tonight!
I am so excited to try Ylang Ylang. I always thought that was the scent that bothered me in a couple of my blends but nice to find out it’s just Patchouli. Can’t wait to buy this as a single !!!
I adore ylang ylang in Love Vanilla. I’ve been a bit hestitant to use it alone due to it’s low max dermal, but after reading this post, I’m going to try! Thanks!
Great to know what it blends well with. Thanks!
I could definitely use some extra support with easing my mind. I’m going to look into ylang ylang!
this sounds amazing! might have to get this!! Thank you for providing such awesome info!!
Love this oil. It’s one of my favorites!! I just put together the vetiver pillow spray last night after (finally) picking up some everclear. It smells DIVINE! I also use it in a perfume with orange, neroli and jasmine. Thank you for all the knowledge and the uses and cautions about this sweet, heady essential oil.
I have heard such good things about Ylang Ylang! I am happy its the spotlight this week and I will finally get to try it.
From what age can use oils that are not kidsafe? I’ve got a couple of little ones and don’t think I’ll be trying the not kidsafe ones yet.
I’ve never tried this oil! I’m excited to try this for the relaxation benefits!
Use this in a skin serum and love it
I have wanting to try. Intend to try the topical recipe,
I will be trying this in a calming blend.
