Who says all the DIYs have to be just for the ladies! This amazing Earthy Clean Aftershave is refreshing and masculine, making it a fantastic addition to anyone’s post-shave routine. Peppermint, with its cool refreshing aroma, pairs perfectly with the woodsy fragrance of Cypress and Cedarwood. Finally, Black Pepper adds the hint of spice to round out this Earthy Clean Aftershave. Once you’ve mixed all the ingredients, combine in a spray bottle for easy application.

Why doesn’t your recipe say to solubolize the essential oils in Everclear for at least an hour before adding the rest of the ingredients, when it does say you’re supposed to do that on the blog about Everclear?
Sometimes I’m baffled by your “safety”.
Hello kelly, we always recommend to err on the side of caution and use the best judgment when creating products. If applying topically, it might be best to let the product meld before adding it to a water base. We are always doing our best to update information and recipes as we research and find out more information. That way we can provide the safest information possible. If you would like to read more here is also a great blog from Robert Tisserand, https://tisserandinstitute.org/effective-use-alcohol-aromatic-blending/#:~:text=Ethanol%20is%20used%20to%20solubilize,separated%20into%20two%20distinct%20substances Thank you for letting us know. Have a great day.
. I was thinking of using Tea tree/Eucalyptus oil. Now I have a guide I can tweak and follow.
Would adding a solubizer eliminate the need to shake well every time?
If you find that there is still a little oil that you just can’t get incorporated, adding an emulsifier would definitely help. If you can get your hands on 190 proof Everclear, that’s typically enough to solubilize your oils, however.
can we substitute the vegetable glycerin with anything?
Thanks for this great idea. I’d love to try it!
Can I use other type of alcohol?
If you can’t get a hold of Everclear, just try to find the highest proof alcohol you can (grain alcohol or vodka is best).
I want to make this for my husband. I’d love to get him away from commercial after shave!

This sounds good!
Will this help with razor burn? Thanks!
Kelli, for a specific issue like razor burn, I suggest something much more gentle, like a Rose or Lavender hydrosol. Or try using a plain carrier oil (without EOs), which is also a great way to help relieve irritated skin 🙂
Saving this recipe for sure!!
