There’s nothing more unfortunate than the first sign of a zit popping up on your face. Anything from teenage hormones to that time of the month to using the wrong makeup product can bring it on. Instead of waiting it out or trying to pop it and potentially making it worse, use essential oils to help fight the acne. This easy DIY combines Oregano, a very powerful essential oil, and Tea Tree to help banish the zits before they make themselves at home. Apply directly to the blemishes up to two times a day for healthy, clearer skin.
Acne Fighter Roll-On
What you’ll need:
- 10 mL roll-on bottle
- Grapeseed Carrier Oil
- 1 drops Oregano
- 2 drops Tea Tree
Add all these products to your cart
What you’ll do:
Fill the roll-on bottle with Grapeseed Carrier Oil. Add the essential oils. Apply directly to blemishes 1-2 a day for clear, healthy skin.
Is this suitable for a 12 year old? Thanks in advance.
Hi Subha! Yes, since your tween is older than ten years old this would be safe to try!
Tea Tree is my absolute favorite for acne. Every time I get a flare up I grab by aloe jelly with tea tree and spot treat. They go away the next day!
wow cant wait to try this!
Like many others I have been using tea tree, either as a toner with witch hazel or as more of a moisturizer with avocado oil. I still get acne but it is improved. I am glad to know oregano might amp up a spot treatment.
Acne oil blends are working great at keeping my teens acne under control. Love them.
Thank you for this recipe! Can’t wait to try it out.
Thank you for this recipe!
Interesting recipe. The zit fighter blend doesn’t have any oregano or tea tree in it, which I find odd. I would definitely expect a zit fighter to include tea tree. I’m curious which works better. This recipe or the zit fighter blend.
Can’t wait to try this for my teen.
Totally making this for my teen, right now!
Love all the great recipes, thank you!
I will definitely be trying this. I am almost 44 and I still have issues with break outs.
Can use coconut oil instead?
Yes you can!
I have coconut, almond, jojoba and near perfection. No grape seed yet. Which one would be best? Near perfection?
Only 3 drops of oil? Is less more for this recipe? Would it be bad to double or even triple the essential oils?
Oregano is an especially powerful essential and it’s important to keep the dilution rate low, which is why there’s only one drop. Similarly, we kept Tea Tree at a low dilution to avoid skin irritation. If you wanted to use Tea Tree by itself, you could use a 5% dilution though!
This is so easy! Cant wait to give it a try. Thanks!
This is great. Can’t wait to try it out. Adult acne is frustrating.
I’ve been using the Zit Fighter roll-on and looking for a good DIY to fill it with once the contents are gone. This will be perfect!
Can I use camellia or almond oil as the carrier? You
Wow this is super helpful! I definitely will need to try this ASAP!
Have been using tea tree and lavender in Argan oil for fighting acne. It helps but takes time. Hope this would be a more effective one.
OMG this is magic! Every now and then I get a horrible break out that last a couple weeks. SO embarrassing walking around with a “pizza face”. This came out about a week after my break out began so I ordered oregano right away (I had tea tree already) I After just one day, I noticed a difference. After day 2, almost clear. After day 3, only a couple spots left! My whole life (I’m almost 30) nothing has worked until now and I’m so so excited!
I already use tea tree so it’s nice to know oregano can give it a good punch it needs. I haven’t made a roller but I did make a gel with aloe Vera that works well. Thanks for the ideas!
I cannot wait to try this!! I already use tea tree to fight acne, but adding the oregano and making a roller ball sounds great!
I’m obsessed w the 2 roll ons I’ve recently made. Jojoba+tea tree+lavender+Frank+grapefruit. My skin has never looked better & the best part is that I’m 7 MOS pregnant & my skin is nearly flawless. I’m obsessed w PT!!
Is hemp carrier oil too heavy for this? It is the only carrier oil I have right now, and I can’t get another shipmebt until next month :(.
It might be too heavy, but it really depends on how your skin reacts. If you’ve used Hemp Oil on your face and haven’t had any issues, then you should be good.
I am so excited to make and try this roller! Thanks PT live ❤️
Unfortunately at the age of 41, I still need this. But, I am also so thankful for the recipe! I hope it works!
would love it if you have recipe for skin allergy/ rashes on face
How easy to make! My sister has acne issues from time to time, maybe I’ll make this as a gift for her..
Wow this looks so easy! Can’t wait to try it out!
i can’t wait to try this! these two oils are powerhouses!
I guess this is the perfect time to buy some oregano
Hmmm…. maybe I do need oregano
Thanks for the recipe, I wouldn’t have thought to use Oregano for acne! Would Clear Complex work equally as well as Grapeseed?
Clear Complex is a great choice!
I hope this works for me. Still having issues in my 30s
Glad you posted this. I sometimes get hormone related acne and have been using acne cream from the stores. This sounds a lot healthier.
I love being able to see it done in a video, thanks! And now I am wanting the Grapeseed Carrier Oil and a bottle of Oregano!
This post was made right on time. Thank you 🙂
When it comes to your daily skincare routine, would you use this as a toner, or more of a spot treatment?
This would be best as a spot treatment.
Thank you for this info. Cant wait to try this recipe.
Can’t wait to make this!
I can’t wait to try this after pregnancy and breastfeeding. I wish I could use it now!
I have used this and it works but I don’t use it as often as it says because I don’t want my face to get use to it. Much better than the zit fighter roll on than they already sell. Saw this posted awhile back by a PT customer not glad PT posted for everyone to enjoy and it’s PT tested and approved 😉
I’ll be right back….gotta go make this roller bottle. I can’t wait to try this on my blemishes since I still break out due to hormones. Thank you for this idea, I would have thought oil would block my pores more. Now I know.
Grapeseed Oil is non-comedogenic (meaning it won’t clog pores) and has astringent (or drying) properties. This makes it ideal for oily and/or blemish-prone skin, and is perfect for drying out those stubborn little pimples! 🙂
This would be an awesome option to have on hand when that time of month comes along. I look forward to trying this one out!
This blog could not have came at the perfect time for me! I’ve been using the Zit Fighter with aloe vera jelly, but I just got 1 big cyst pimple. I’ll definitely have to try this blend, but would I be able to use another carrier oil or grapeseed is highly recommended? I have the following carrier oils: FCCO, Argan & Dermisoothe.
Fractionated Coconut Oil would be a great alternative.
I may have to try this! I have the Zit Fighter roll-on, but I think the coconut oil is too heavy for my already oily skin. Thank for the great info!
I need to whip this up for my twin nieces !!! Thank you for all your lovely recipes 🙂
I will be ordering some oregano oil. 🙂
What percentage dilution would this recipe be considered?
This recipe is a 1% dilution.
Right on time. Thank you.
Why grapeseed oil, i always Thought jojobo oil was best for face.
It really just depends on your skincare needs. Both Jojoba and Grapeseed are great for the face, especially oily or blemish-prone skin. Grapeseed works well for this recipe because it is one of the lightest carrier oils available and has mild antiseptic properties. If you’d like to learn more about the differences and benefits of each carrier, we have a great post that you can check out.
Does this need to be kept in the fridge?
As long as you store it in a cool, dark place, it’ll be fine. Although storing it in the fridge certainly wouldn’t hurt!
