If I wanted to make a pillow spray with just the Nighty Night, how many drops would I need? Thank you!
Hello Dina,
You would need 56 drops of the nighty Night. This oil is also very blue so you will want to test in an inconspicuous place to see if it would stain your pillows blue. We hope this helps!
This is about 1.5% dilution, correct? That’s enough for a linen spray?
Yes, give or take. Petitgrain is very potent, so a little goes a long way. If this isn’t strong enough for you, you can always play with the essential oil levels.
What is Everclear?
Everclear is a high proof grain alcohol. You can learn more about Everclear and essential oils here!
I don’t have alcohol in my house. Is there a substitute for the Everclear? Thanks!
You can use witch hazel instead with one tsp of Polysorbate 20 to emulsify the essential oils.
Looks like a wonderful recipe, but is there something that you can recommend in place of the Everclear? It’s illegal to sell or buy it in Hawaii.
Would witch hazel, regular rubbing alcohol , or maybe vodka work as substitutes.
If you use witch hazel, you’ll need a preservative and emulsifier. Rubbing alcohol can work, but it can be overpowering. Your best bet is probably just to use the highest proof vodka you can find.
Mahalo
Can you substitute something for the Everclear? I don’t want to purchase just for an ounce right now.
You can use a high proof vodka or witch hazel with one tsp of Polysorbate 20 to emulsify the essential oils.
Sounds lovely … and I was looking for a sleep blend for a man. I think he’ll like this one better than ylang-ylang blend. Thank you
I have all these oils, so I’m excited to give this a try. I purchased Petitgrain a while back and have been struggling to find ways to use it and balance out its scent with other oils. So, thanks for this and for pairing it with common oils!
This sounds so lovely!
I don’t have access to EverClear – can I add the EOs to Poly 20 and then directly into the water, without the EverClear? Also, could this EO blend be used in a diffuser as opposed to as a pillow spray?
Yes, you can use a teaspoon of Polysorbate 20 with four ounces witch hazel in place of Everclear. This blend can also be used in a diffuser! You can either make a master blend or reduce the drops down.
