FriYAY: Manly Men Edition

It’s that time of the week again… FriYAY! In the past, we’ve had some great weekend deals for ladies like Springtime Floral, Romance, or Body Crème. But this FriYAY is for the men. These incredible oils are deep, woodsy, and rich and positively exude manliness. You can whip up some cologne or create a beautiful diffuser blend that the men in your life are sure to enjoy. Let’s take a look at everything Australian Sandalwood, Buddha Wood, and Pine Scots have to offer.

Plant Therapy Sandalwood Australian

Australian Sandalwood

Originating from Australia and steam distilled from the wood of the Sandalwood tree, Australian Sandalwood is a precious oil that has been cherished for centuries by its users. It boasts a soft, sweet woody aroma that is a favorite for meditation to help relax the mind from the worries of everyday life. It’s one of those oils that is all around good for promoting calm,  encouraging relaxation during meditation, and helping reduce nervous tension.

Another amazing use for Australian Sandalwood is skincare. This gentle oil is effective for helping reduce oily skin and skin blemishes. Try combining it with Clear Complex, our carrier oil blend specifically for oily skin, and massaging it onto a clean, dry face before bed.

For those of you who are wondering, there are a few minor differences between Australian Sandalwood and Indian Sandalwood. For starters, Australian Sandalwood has a lower price point, which is always a bonus! The Indian variety is also a bit more earthy and woody, while the Australian version is often described as soft and sweet.  But other than that, these oils have the same therapeutic benefits.

How to Use:

When using Australian Sandalwood for your skincare, we recommend using a dilution of 1-3% in your favorite carrier oil. But when using any oils on your face on a regular basis, stick to just a 1% dilution. You can also add a few drops to your diffuser to create a relaxing, calm atmosphere or whip up this Calm and Cleanse Linen Spray.

Plant Therapy Buddha Wood

Buddha Wood

Another fabulously rich, deep and woody oil, Buddha Wood is a rare, cherished oil that is steam distilled from a small tree native to Australia. Also known as Australian Desert Rosewood, Buddha Wood has a deep, woody aroma, thick, viscous texture, and a deep amber hue. This remarkably balancing and grounding oil enriches meditative practice and supports the mindfulness needed to bring focus and clarity.

Buddha Wood is sometimes used in place of the more common Sandalwood, but it contains unique components that bring notes of smoke and rose to a blend. Buddha Wood is often used in perfumes, especially in refined colognes for men. It blends nicely with a wide range of citrus, woodsy, and spicy oils.

How to Use:

When using Buddha Wood topically, we recommend using a dilution of 2-5% in a carrier oil. You can also diffuse a few drops to encourage mindfulness and calm during meditation.

Plant Therapy Pine Scots

Pine Scots

Want to smell like you’re walking through a fresh forest? Then you need Pine Scots. It has a fresh, sweet-green woodsy scent that perfectly captures the pine tree. Pine Scots is particularly known for its ability to help support a healthy respiratory tract. Next time you’re feeling stuffed up, add a few drops to your diffuser or use it in a facial steam. When added to a carrier oil, Pine is warming and soothing to tired muscles and can help support circulation. And of course, when added to cleaning products or to potpourri, it brings the fresh scent of the forest into your home.

How to Use:

To help soothe sore muscles, we recommend using a dilution of 3-5% in a carrier oil and massage onto affected areas. You can also diffuse a few drops to help clear airways and encourage open breathing.
