Sunshine Summer Slime
What you’ll need:
- 4 oz school glue
- 1/2 Tbsp baking soda
- 1 Tbsp contact lens solution
- 2 tsp Fractionated Coconut Oil
- 6 drops Hello Sunshine
- Yellow food coloring (optional)
What you’ll do:
In a medium bowl, combine your essential oils and carrier oil. Then add the school glue and food coloring and mix well. Add the baking soda and mix again. While stirring, add the contact lens solution and wait for the slime to form. Remove from the bowl and work with your hands until it becomes stretchy, ooey, and gooey. If the mixture is still too tacky, add more contact lens solution 1/2 Tbsp at a time. Store in an airtight container to keep fresh.
Do you have an estimate of how long this will keep if stored in an airtight container?
When stored in an airtight container, it should be good for at least a week.
Just made 4 batches of this slime with two kiddos and it turned out great! We used Orange Essence, Toy Soldier, and Sunshine. Thanks for the recipe!
I have been wanting to make slime for myself for a long time. I think I will make this one. Thanks.
If one is allergic to cocount oil, what would be a good substitute?
Any carrier oil will do!
Do you happen to know what particular ingredient(s) in the contact lens solution are the activator? I use a brand called Clear Conscious that is thimerosal-free and chlorhexidine-free. And I’m wondering if it wouldn’t work because it doesn’t contain all of the standard solution ingredients? Thanks!
Yes! The ingredients that work as the activator are sodium borate and boric acid.
Just out of curiosity, what is the purpose of the contact lens solution?
It’s the activator that turns the glue into a slime!
