Dai Dai Flower
Dai Dai flowers are mainly grown in the Anhui, Fujian, and Guangdong Providences of China. The flowering season is only from April through June and the yield is very low each year. Due to this small window of growth, this oil is definitely a treasure!
Dai Dai is considered to be a cultivar of Citrus aurantium, making it very comparable to Neroli in makeup and aroma. This steam-distilled essential oil has a rich, floral scent with citrusy overtones, making it the perfect addition to your perfumes and scented product blends.
This oil is rich in linalool and linalyl acetate, giving it a lovely scent that is relaxing to the senses. The aroma creates a soothing effect on mood and helps relieve nervous tension. When used to relieve tension, Dai Dai Flower can also help ease cravings and manage hunger. It’s aromatic scent and relaxing properties also make it helpful for promoting a romantic mood. Diffuse using 2-3 drops per 100 mL of water or use in a personal inhaler to enjoy the relaxing aroma.
Dai Dai Flower Essential Oil is also beneficial for skincare! When properly diluted, it can help to reduce the appearance of imperfections and soothe skin irritations. For topical applications dilute to 1-3% in your favorite carrier oil.

Please bring back dai dai flower!
Beautiful scent. Bought one to give to a friend.
What strength of aroma is Dai Dai Flower?
Dai Dai Flower has a medium-strong aroma.
What is the difference between Dai Dai Flower and Neroli?
Both oils are very similar. Dai Dai Flower has a bit of a sweeter, slightly more intense aroma than Neroli. They also have similar therapeutic benefits that you can enjoy.
I fell in love with this oil. It reminds me very much of orange blossom water. Can this oil along with a few other oil of the month oils please come into stock permanently?? I am afraid to run out of this treasure to soon like I did with Butterfly Lilly
We hear you! Butterfly Lily was seriously amazing. Unfortunately, some of these oils have a very limited supply which makes it difficult to offer as part of our permanent collection. But keep an eye out! We are always looking for previous oils that we can bring back.
I think this will be very handy when I get the munchies. Maybe it can help my brain say…..Put down that snack.
Can I use this as substitute to neroli?
Yes! This makes a wonderful substitute for Neroli.
I received my oil of the month for this oil but I am wondering why the one I got doesn’t really smell good like the other people are saying theirs does? Has no kind of a floral scent at all. This is only my second oil of the month and I loved the other one but a little disappointed in this one. I look forward to next month’s and I am interested in trying to make perfumes so I have been getting a lot of different oils for a while now but I still am a little nervous about trying my luck at making a good one.
Hi Brenda, that does sound unusual. You might try reaching out to our customer satisfaction team at [email protected] because we definitely want you to be happy with your purchase. However, it could just be a personal thing. Everone’s nose is different and some oils can smell different to different people, and not every oil smells pleasant to everyone.
Yes!!! I think it has a slight rose scent to it too!
It reminds me of rose. This is a great OOTM and will be buying more.
I wanted to ask why the Dai Dai Flower essential oil has a shelf life of 1-2 years, when the Neroli essential oil has a shelf life of 2-3 years given the similarities mentioned in this post? Since the essential oil cannot necessarily be bought past this month, is it possible to make the shelf life 2-3 years if we put a spare unopened bottle in the refrigerator?
Even though Dai Dai Flower is similar to Neroli, it is a unique essential oil that has its own properties, including a shorter shelf life. Shelf life could potentially be extended if the oil doesn’t get exposed to light or oxygen in a fridge, but there’s no guarantee it will last longer than our recommended shelf life. You can read more about shelf life here.
