We’re kicking off the new year with new products. Just in time for spring cleaning, say hello to our new Sparkling Laundry Blends, Wool Dryer Balls and Wrinkle Releaser. These products are a natural way to soften and add a burst of scent to your clothes. Now you can ditch the dryer sheets and artificial fragrance in favor of something more eco-friendly. Here’s everything you need to know about adding essential oils to your laundry day routine.
Sparkling Laundry Blends
Each of our new Sparkling Laundry Blends was expertly tailored towards making your laundry smell fresh. The oils in the blends were chosen because of the intensity of their aroma as well as their dryer safety (more on that later). You can use them in the washer when combined with an unscented laundry detergent. Or you can combine them with wool dryer balls for a naturally fragrant laundry softener. When used as directed, all three Sparkling Laundry Blends can be safely used on the whole family’s laundry.

Wool Dryer Balls
One of the easiest ways to add scent to your clothes naturally is with dryer balls. Plus Wool Dryer Balls have benefits of their own! Our 100% New Zealand Wool Dryer Balls are an eco-friendly way to soften clothing and help reduce static. All-natural and chemical-free, you can replace dryer sheets with this reusable alternative. Each ball lasts for up to 1,000 dryer loads.
After you’ve loaded your freshly washed laundry into the dryer, toss 3-4 wool dryer balls into the dryer for small loads. For larger loads, use 5-6 wool dryer balls. To help boost the scent, add 3-4 drops of one of our Sparkling Laundry Blends to a dryer ball and add with your laundry. For the strongest aroma, add the essential oils to the dryer balls during the last 15 minutes of the drying cycle when the dryer air is cool.
Remember, while essential oils will add scent to your laundry, it won’t be nearly as strong as traditional laundry soap might give you.
Dryer Safety
Essentials offer many incredible benefits, including helping laundry smell great naturally. But one of the drawbacks is that some essential oils have a flashpoint (the lowest temperature at which a compound will ignite given an ignition source) that often falls within the range of traditional dryers. With that in mind, we carefully crafted these blends with oils that have a higher flashpoint so that can safely be used in most dryers. But since commercial dryers or some older models run hotter, we don’t recommend using these blends when the dryer settings heat above 135° F or 57° C. When in doubt, the cooldown setting is a great option.
Unscented Wrinkle Releaser
Last, but certainly not least, we’re bringing you an Unscented Wrinkle Releaser. It effortlessly smooths wrinkles from clothing, linen, and other fabrics. This easy-to-use spray relaxes fabric fibers to release moderate wrinkles and help reduce static. This makes it ideal for rushed mornings, traveling, or when you’re just feeling too lazy to set up the ironing board and iron.
To smooth out wrinkles, simply spray onto the fabric with a sweeping motion until slightly damp. Shake fabric and use your hands to pull and smooth. Then lay flat or hang to dry and viola!
Like our Linen and Room Sprays, this product has been tested for colorfastness on black and white rayon, polished cotton, and silk. There was some color change when wet for the silk and white rayon, but no color change once it was dry. In addition to this testing, we always recommend doing a small patch test first to make sure it’s safe for every fabric in your closet. Plus find the Ingredient Table here.

I’m excited to try the dryer balls with the essential oils!
I do not have a dryer, so using with the dryer balls is not an option for me. The article mentions using with laundry detergent in the wash but gives no details. Would you add directly to the washer or premix with laundry powder ( I do not use liquid detergent).
We recommend using liquid detergent because it will emulsify your essential oils. With a powder detergent, it gets a little more tricky. You could try dissolving your powder in a small amount of water and incorporating the blends from there. But because we haven’t tested this method, we can’t be sure how it will turn out.
I just purchased the dryer balls today. I’m excited to see how they leave the laundry smelling. I have not used fabric softener in years and have added white vinegar to the rinse cycle while washing. So, I’m looking forward to nice smelling laundry.
Thank you for the helpful information.

I would love to know if the wrinkle releaser would work well on very stubborn wrinkles on drapes that I purchased. I can’t even get them out after washing and drying as suggested on the tag. I really don’t want to use the iron on them.

I have a few questions:
1) So even though some of these oils are usually not labeled as kid safe, we can use them on our kids clothing? What about newborn/infant?
2) Could you mix the oil into a whole bottle of detergent so it is all ready to go? Or just add drops with every load?
When used as directed, these blends are safe for all households. They should not be used for infants or toddlers, however. It’s best to add a few drops with every load rather than mixing into the whole container of detergent.
